About Mister Tollcross
I live in the centre of Tollcross and I am interested in golf, Origami, toolmaking, fretwork, photography, cycling, many different crafts and improving the area of Tollcross.
I am a member of the Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club.
I shop local for all my daily needs. I use the Farmers’ Market when needed for a few extras, mainly fresh fish.
I publish three Websites, Tollcross Online, Tollcross Community Council and the Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club site.
In recognition of my work in the Tollcross area the City of Edinburgh Council, Lord Provost George Grubb, presented me with the Sir William Y Darling Bequest for Good Citizenship in 2009.
I am on Twitter as Mister Tollcross.
I’m a lifelong Edinburgher and Tollcross resident and love living here so much. Greatly appreciate all the effort put into making this a cohesive and non-exploitative community.
Thanks a million…
Mr Tollcross (David)
I noticed on the Tollcross Online page you had a picture of the old public washhouse on Lochrin Place/West Tollcross. I am doing a paper (and likely a talk) on Edinburgh’s public washhouses and recently got the original drawings for Lochrin PWH, but have never seen a picture before. I would welcome a copy, and any information you may have on it. I know it closed in 1977 but don’t know when it was demolished.
I look forward to hearing from you (day job is Historic Scotland Buildings Inspector, and I have a proud Tollcross maternal ancestry from when it was Lochrin!
Best regards
Steven Robb
Hi David,
Just a quick one; I wondered if you’d be kind enough to mention the opening of our new office at 12 Home Street in either your blog or twitter? If you need more info just let me know!
Thanks,
Colin
